Ace Hotel Series – Southwoods, Skin Lies, Mike Gamble

Sounds et al hosts this monthly performance series at the Ace Hotel Portland.

This month we’ve got three artists we’re really looking forward to — Southwoods, Skin Lies, and Mike Gamble.

The series showcases a wide variety of sound artists, mainly focusing on experimental and electronic performances – always worth hearing.

6-8pm in the hotel lobby

Southwoods — “…a synthesis of glitch and grit, landing their euphonies somewhere in a choppy conflux of ambient electronic meets noisey-noise. Single moments have elements evocative of both Four Tet and My Bloody Valentine, a cool sound indeed that seems to always be on the brink of rupturing…” (Ride The Tempo). Currently on tour and working on an upcoming album.

Skin Lies…project from Dustin Krcatovich (Impermanent Projects) performs ‘Non-dualistic sound/vision vibe-outs, no rules ever.’

Mike Gamble is an adventurous guitarist and multi-instrumentalist whose work with electronic modes of composition are integrated endlessly into his setup. Gamble has spent the last 15 years immersed in the creative jazz, experimental rock and improvised music scene primarily in NYC, with close ties to New Orleans, Burlington, Boston, San Francisco and now in Portland OR, where he currently lives.
