Ace Hotel Series – Pulse Emitter, Derek Hunter Wilson, Institute For Creative Dying

Sounds et al hosts this monthly performance series at the Ace Hotel Portland.

This month we’ve got three Portland-based artists – Pulse Emitter, Derek Hunter Wilson and Institute For Creative Dying.

The series showcases a wide variety of sound artists, mainly focusing on experimental and electronic performances – always worth hearing.

Pulse Emitter is the musical project of Daryl Groetsch. He focuses on melodic synthesizer music that is calming and transportive. Since 2004, he has released albums on acclaimed labels and has toured Europe and N. America. Music critic David Keenan has said, “No one is making synth music that feels so organic, so rapturous and so ‘in tune’ with the contours of outer and inner space as Groetsch.”

Derek Hunter Wilson is a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Portland, OR.

Institute For Creative Dying is the solo endeavor of Portland-based guitarist/composer Paul Michael Schaefer (Dead Death; Yardsss ∅ ∀ ‡; Waver Clamor Bellow). His transportive audio-environments merge experimental guitar, bowed guitar, hammered dulcimer, percussion, and electronics.
